Ice Let Loose

I was in the right place at the right time the other day and got to watch as the huge chunk of ice let loose from the bottom of the pond. I took a few pictures though they show nothing compared to actually being there. Soon the frogs will be croaking away, and I'll have to use Tracy's camera to capture the noisy, noisy sound. They go all day and all night in the spring.

Meanwhile, I'll be taking off the rest of the month from my blogging. Lord willing, I'll be back May 1.

Aussie-dog, My Protector

Aussie saw a plastic bag in the woods and decided he needed to protect me from it. He took off and was growling and barking and growling some more, all to save me from the plastic bag that wasn't going anywhere or doing anything to me! Oh well, at least I know his growling is good for something. I have now finished raking all around the house out so far so we can begin mowing. Ha! In trying to preview this, I had the volume up so I could try to hear his growling. He heard himself and came flying across the room to the computer barking and growling some more. What a terrible racket he makes. The crazy dog even barks and growls at us!

The Bib

A friend made Tracy this bib many years ago. The poor thing has been through a lot--six kids plus numerous day care children. It's all tattered and torn now; when it was new, I had such a hard time using it because it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pretty!

Silly Saturday

Aaron made a Lego duck today.

Art Projects

Emily took pictures of Melissa who's displaying the art they worked on today.

Third Degree

Alright, if Tracy's going to blog about me, it's only fair that I can blog about her. :) Last week our grocery store had these air fresheners for 59 cents (plus tax) so I decided it might be fun to get one. I remember picking peonies at my great-grandmother's house in the cities so picked that scent. You'll have to know me...I hardly ever buy anything just for the sake of buying. Tracy had to ask me all sorts of questions including one to the tune of, "If it hadn't have been 59 cents, would you have still bought it?" Well, no, I wouldn't have. :) Usually the daddy does all the "fun" purchases so yes, this is totally unlike me. Am I worth 59 cents????? Anyone?????

I Don't WANT an Alfalfa Sprout!

Silly Saturday

We took some outside pictures today.

Test Results

We got our standardized test results in the mail today. I have one brilliant child (except spelling) and two average children (except spelling.) Do you see a pattern here? I never did well in spelling either; I'm of a mind to think that it'll come as they get older so we just do the minimum and move along with life. Actually, I never did well on any of my tests.

Another Lazy Day

Not much happened today. I did some raking outside. We did get the duct under the house fixed though. Praise the Lord!!! No more heating the outdoors...

Another Lazy Day

Not much happened today either. I did run to town and managed to get some errands done. I'll finish them tomorrow evening. The kids played outside most of the day, it seemed, and Mike will have to go back to work in the morning after his five days off. I'm sure he's looking forward to that. :)

A Lazy Day

Not much happened around here today. I even grabbed a nap while the grabbing was good. :) We had photo albums out and were looking through those. Tracy made a cheesecake. I made oatmeal/peanut butter/raisin cookies for breakfast, Jason made a pizza for lunch while I had Tracy at her violin lesson (he didn't stretch the dough enough so it was very thick and somewhat gooey dough,) and I made some soup for supper. We did a bit of cleaning and wore the dog out. I'm trying to teach him to roll over. We've had lots of phone calls today--seven to be exact. Now things are calm and I believe most people are in bed. I'll join shortly.

Stack of Food and Alfalfa Sprout

Here's the stack of food we took to the church building today because we were waiting in town for the library to open. It's best to get some food into the kids or they become whiners and drive me crazy. We brought back five bags of books.

Laura got to wear an alfalfa sprout today, much to my mom's dismay, I'm sure. I think they're kind of cute on little girls. :)

Pantry Areas

I've been labeling all my cans and boxes with a number since last June. I'm pleased to announce that I only have two things older than that--a jar of pickle relish and a can of pumpkin. I'm not sure if that's good or bad though. I'd like to be able to say I have a year's worth of food around, but counting everything, I probably do. I got the idea to post my food areas from Mercedes's blog and her specific post on eating from the freezer. I enjoy her practical money saving tips and the overall cheerfulness of her blog. Below are some more areas I have food stored. Hmm..that's strange...it put them on the top. Oh well. Good night!

The Ever-Attracting Mud Puddle

Emily, Melissa, and Laura in the mud puddle in various years... (Laura decided to taste it.)

Outside Pictures and a Link to Mike's Blog

Here's a link to Mike's blog which he started today.
Below are some outside pictures. The ground is S-O-G-G-Y! While we were out, the Aussie-dog was inside bumming because he's scared of the cat. He does have a good excuse though, the cat doesn't like him and will chase him just to get the dog's goat.
