Li'l Debbie Cookies Part 2

This is the way you mix your dough until you realize your bowl isn't big enough for ALL the ingredients...

So...you put it into your huge bowl so the dough looks dwarfed but you're able to mix
The filling reminds me of a not-so-sweet frosting for a cake.
Putting the cookies together. I'll add here that I suggest you grease your pan before baking your cookies. I had a hard time getting mine off.
What's left after a few bites.

Thank you so much, Joy and Beth, for the recipe to try!

"Li'l Debbie Cookies"

Okay, here's the recipe I was promised. I'm hoping to get to them for breakfast tomorrow. I have very little time left of today but will make a "go" of them anyway. (That way I'll actually have some that make it together instead of six chimes, "May I have some dough?") Just for the record and so I don't get in trouble, the sixth chime is the dog, not Tracy. Ha ha ha :)

Today was fairly relaxing; we cleaned the living room/dining room though you can't tell, canned peaches, and dehydrated raspberries among our daily things. Mike and Aaron went blueberry scouting for some friends and found three more places to pick. I also went to town and some of the kids went to the pool for a while.

Li'l Debbie Cookies
4 cups brown sugar
1 and half cup butter
4 eggs
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking powder
5 cups flour
4 cups oatmeal
Mix all this up and then mix together
6 tablespoons boiling water
4 tsp baking soda
add to mixture
form balls and put on cookie sheet, bake at 350 for 12 minutes then cool
and now the filling:
2 tsp vanilla
4 tbs flour
4 tbs milk
1 and half cups of Crisco
2 cups powder sugar
add two egg whites well beaten
spread filling between two cooled cookies
Makes 3 dozen

Raspberries

We went and picked raspberries during Tracy's violin lesson today. We got our orange bowl and the little cereal bowls full in about 25 minutes. However, when I went to report our "findings," we got sent out with more containers and were told to pick more. Laura kept dumping the bowls out!

Another Day

We got our Tracy home today! She's been at her grandma's house since Wednesday. She and I canned six quarts of peaches after we made it home; the seventh jar broke. After work Mike went out and scouted one more time for blueberries so we will be picking again tomorrow. He hit another jackpot area so we maybe can get back the 2 gallons we gave away this morning. :)

Blueberries

Mike and the kids went out and picked five more quarts of blueberries today, and I canned 7 of 21 quarts of peaches.

Blueberries

We picked some (more) blueberries after Mike got home from work today. On the way home, we found another spot very close to home so will go there tomorrow after church to pick. Here's what we came home with today.

Water Wars

The glints in the eyes of those in charge of the hose... (I love the water in Melissa's picture.)

I was taking this picture of Laura when Jason came "flying" through...

Jason and Emily were having a "who can stay in the cold water the longest" contest.

Laura finally got in. She usually doesn't like to be in the water without being held...
